Returning Soldiers

The project investigates the long-term socioeconomic and health consequences of deployment. The project focuses on the effects of deployment experiences on veterans’ education levels, labor market outcomes both legitimate and illegitimate in the form of crime, family outcomes, and physical health, as well as psychological well-being and suicide attempts. For all these topics we will study short-, middle- and long-term consequences. In addition, we will explore a full population of deployed soldiers and use additional analytical approaches to identify the consequences according to the level of exposure intensity during deployment
